Achievements in Democratic Governance Sector
CCHD has imparted direct information & education on democratic processes, political participation, women’s rights, local government, roles & responsibilities of locally elected representatives, constituent rights, election management, electoral rights, roles of parliaments and parliamentarians, voters’ education and leadership skills to some 88,000 citizens, particularly to women.
Achievements in Human Rights and Peace Sector
- CCHD has provided direct legal aid and advice to 4,500 disadvantaged women, located in ten districts. We established Ten District Support Centers in Punjab Province to enhance access to legal services and stop the incidences of violence on women.
- CCHD has raised awareness of some 45,000 women in the ten intervention districts on their legal, social, political and economic rights.
- Sensitization programs on women rights for police, jail staff and local government officials were carried out. Approximately about 1600 police and jail officials have been trained.
- Optimizing on community support and needs, CCHD trained and built the capacity of some 380 direct stakeholders i.e., community opinion leaders, government officials, police, journalists, teachers, lawyers, on implications of violence, monitoring of violence, Muslim Family Laws, conflict management, women’s rights, through networking and counseling.
- Provided technical guidance, implemented and monitored capacity building program for 2500 (Muslihat-i-Anjuman members) community justice providers of four districts of Punjab for dispute resolution at the local level on gender justice.
- 1200 (Muslihat-i-Anjuman members) community justice providers of two districts capacity has been built to maximize their outreach, problem solving skills and legal literacy for dispute resolution at the local level on gender justice.
Achievements in Electronic Media Advocacy Campaigns
- Produced several programs including Talk shows, Dramas, Features, Documentaries for both the television and radio.
- Production and telecasting of 13 television Talk Shows of 35 minutes duration on gender mainstreaming through media in collaboration with the ADB in 2010 on HUM TV and PTV.
- Production and broadcasting of 114 Radio Programs on Local Governance on Pakistan Radio Broadcasting Corporation (PRBC) through 3 radio Stations on weekly basis.
- Production and broadcasting of 15 awareness raising programmes of duration of 40 minutes each on Gender Justice through 3 Radio Stations in collaboration with the Local Government Department.
- Production and broadcasting of five jingles and five songs for voters’ education and mobilization, particularly for women.
- Production and broadcasting and telecasting of 13 Magazine Shows on National Assembly on PRBC from 10 Radio Stations and 5 TV Talk Shows on National Assembly on PTV in 2004 and 2005.
- Production and broadcasting of 14 Radio magazine shows on political education for women were produced and broadcasted in collaboration with the PRBC, broadcasted simultaneously from 10 radio stations at the national level.
- Production and telecasting of a 13-episode drama serial “Jheel Kinarey on women’s political empowerment was produced and telecast at Pakistan Television (2003-2004). Duration of each episode was 35 minutes.
- During the Local Government Election 2000 and General Election 2002, seventy eight insertions were produced and telecasted on “Khawateen Time’ program of the PTV.
- Production and broadcasting of 38 Message insertions of one minute each were produced and broadcasted at national level by the PRBC for mobilization of women leadership for the local government elections.
- Production and telecasting of 13 Documentaries on Environmental Issues of Pakistan in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and PTV.
- Production and telecasting of 6 Television Drama Features on Safe Motherhood for UNICEF in 1997.
- Several journalists training workshops were held in 28 districts of Pakistan. A total of 600 news reporters belonging to regional press were trained in these workshops. The workshops were held in all four provinces of Pakistan.
Achievements in Community Development Sector
- Developed a sustainable community based girls primary education system through collaboration with the Literacy Department of the Government of Punjab. Providing continuous technical support and oversight to the 228 Non Formal Education Schools, with a total enrolment of 82,000 children. Presently there are 8029 students enrolled in our NFBE schools, out of this there are 4365 female students and 3664 male students.
- Provided low cost sanitation system to 1600 houses of low income community based in Lahore.
Achievements in Humanitarian Assistance Sector
- CCHD exclusively initiated a Rapid Protection Assessment (RPA) in eleven flood affected districts (Multan, Muzaffargarh, D.G. Khan, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Mianwali, Jhang, Layyah, Bhakkar, Sargodha and Bahawalpur) of Punjab province, funded by the UNHCR and assisted by McRAM to ascertain the protection issues of flood affected populations, specifically focusing on vulnerable sections of the communities including women, children, socially excluded and disempowered/oppressed groups. CCHD formulated the research framework, hired project staff, and carried out field research in every flood affected UC of all eleven flood affected districts through local NGO alliance partners.
- Establishemnt of 6 Ptotection Centers in Punjab and Sindh to provide legal services, counselling and monitoring of human rights to flood affectees of Mianwali, Bhakar, Rahimyar Khan, Jang, Sukkar, Dadu and Kashome.
- 8500 men, Women and Children were provided primary health care through 11 Mobile Medical Camps in district Muzaffargarh.
- Our 5500 patients given medical services through 8 Voluntary Medical Camps, each manned by a doctor and paramedical staff. Out of this 1500 children suffering from diarrhea were provided with mineral water and ORS.
- CCHD has formed alliance with 80 local organizations in 12 flood affected districts of Punjab and with 70 local NGOs in 11 most flood affected districts of Sindh for “Strengthening Local Participation for Early Recovery and Rehabilitation of Flood Affectees”. These organizations have been selected under a strict criteria developed in partnership with them, which includes their legal status, last year audit reports, progress reports, engagement in emergency relief in flood affected areas, their capacity in terms of human and other resources, and their repute in general. We plan to engage with them in large scale interventions to address and encourage cultural context, local participation, local reliability, cost effectiveness and time efficiency.
