POLITICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR WOMEN (CIDA) 2000-2001
The Citizens' Commission for Human Development launched its Political Education Program for Women in March 2000, “Effective Participation of Women in Local Governance”. The project entailed six sensitization seminars and six three-day training workshops for potential female councilors. During its first training workshop of Lahore Core Group, CCHD felt that while information given in these workshops (Local Govt. Plan 2000 & Local Governance, Muslim Family Laws, Gender Sensitization, Role of Councilor) is useful, further training is needed in particular skills necessary for these women to participate effectively, in both the pre-election and post-election period.
